How cool it is to know that someone has been looking at my post!! Thanks heaps! And now I've just had the angst of trying to work out how to post ANOTHER one - thank goodness for the help button!!
I've been out shopping with my friend this morning and had a lovely time but now it's time to get in some hard assignment work. I am trying to work out a mind map of a social network and the power relationships within it. Sound like much fun? Yep - you're right - it's not- and I am very resistant to doing it, but the thought of failure drives me on - even if it is only worth 10%.
Don't you hate doing stuff that you're not interested in? And this subject is particularly annoying because it's only been offered as a BA core subject this year and I've got to do it even though I'm REALLY not interested - and annoyed at being forced to do something I don't want to do!
Well that's enough of a rant from me now, time to go off and do some work :-(
Good luck! I transferred from a BA to a Communications Degree because of the core subjects (6 in total!). Now, I'm onto my last one of two for the communications, and then I get to chose lots of electives! I agree, there's nothing worse than having to do something you don't want to do, but once it's done, it's done.
ReplyDeleteCaz is right, core modules can be a trial, but often, in the later modules, stuff learnt then comes up again - its never really wasted time - in the end!
ReplyDeleteHi studentmum,
ReplyDeletethanks for commenting on my entry. I know both you and Caz are right about the core subjects and I'm soldiering on :-/ I suppose that my biggest complaint is that these are new subjects that have been introduced and I feel like a guinea pig as the coordinators try different things out to see what works! and they are about issues that I'm not interested in. The idea is to give students doing a BA a broad base from which to select their majors, which is a good idea - but since I've already chosen my majors and am half way through my degree, those subjects are the ones I want to concentrate on - not some airy fairy stuff that's just annoying!!
But you're also both right about "once it's done, it's done" (roll on end of semester I say) and how it's "never really wasted time in the end" so I'll hang on to your encouraging comments with many thanks!
Hope your study is coming along well and that you all have a good day
